**Paying Attention to Attendance**
Keep your child on track in Middle and High School! As children grow older and more independent, families continue to play a key role in making sure students access learning opportunities and understand why attendance is so important for success.
DID YOU KNOW?
~Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
~Frequent absences can be a sign of your student struggling with peers, academics, or another difficulty, be curious and stay involved in your child's life.
~Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of a school year can affect a student's academic success.
WHAT YOU CAN DO...
~Talk about the importance of showing up for school every day.
~Help your teen maintain daily routines, such as finishing up homework and getting a good night's sleep.
~If your teen must stay home for illness, reach out to your child's teacher to receive any missing assignments. Try to prearrange any absences for appointments that cannot be made outside of the school day.
For more information on the school's attendance policy, please reference the Student-Family Handbook, page 13. Athletes have strict attendance guidelines to be eligible to play; be sure your child knows what they are!

Please ask your child about tardies. Even if they are excused, they are missing class, and this can disrupt the daily routines of the classroom. Remind your child to check in at the classroom if they know they need water or the restroom and they may be late. This will ensure they are not marked tardy! Thank you for your support to keep disruptions in the classroom to a minimum.

As a reminder, you can access your Skyward Family Access account here (https://www.q.wa-k12.net/stevenSTS. If you need assistance logging in, please reach out to the district office at 509-427-5674, or contact your child's school.

WRMS Backpacks have arrived! We still have many backpacks for students. If your student still needs one, please have them stop by the office to pick one out!

A note from Principal Burns:
Many students have displayed outstanding positive behavior at WRMS and have received PRIDE tickets for behavior that meets our school-wide expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible
Today's winners are: Harper Fahrni, Adelyn Hobbs, Ellie Essex, Justin Gatewood, Owen Douglas, Billy Trangmar, and Rowen Comstock. Congratulations to all who received a PRIDE ticket. We will be collecting to see which grade level earns the most and rewarding the grade level with the most tickets each month!
Congratulations to all our winners! Keep up the great behavior and positive attitudes! Each of our students make WRMS a great place to teach and learn for everyone!
